:: artist's statement
Trina Greene received her training at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Mass. and at Harvard Graduate School from which she graduated with honors; with supplementary study at the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts. Trained originally as a painter, her work quickly became three-dimensional and her career as a sculptor began.
Trina's journey as a sculptor has taken her into worlds as various as Folk Art, the Italian Renaissance, The Buried Army of the Duke of Chin in China, and currently, Mayan Civilization. Her work has been shown across the country and is in many private collections. The recent completion of a Shakespeare Garden in Orange County State Park, NY (part of the NY State Park System), is designed around her sculpture: "PAN" in bronze. And at Temple Beth Shalom, Livingston, NJ, a Holocaust Garden features her "WALL OF HOPE AND COMMITMENT", a large installation of ceramic and brick.
A walk in a blizzard. Crisp leaves swirling around grey beech trunks. The silent rising of spring green or a diamond bright moon. The bright-eyed perfection of a lively mouse. These form my microcosm, Each, a clue to our cosmos. I reach for imagery that expresses Spirit, intelligence, consciousness in all things. Working in clay or in bronze or combined materials, I design for interiors and exteriors. Sculpture and space merge amd enhance eachother. - Trina Greene
